Harlie Briggs is a London born nature and figure artist. She is a visual artist who creates intuitive, abstract paintings that explore colour, emotion, nature and the female muse. Although primarily paintings, Harlie’s work consists of a variety of prints, vases, pottery, clothing and homewares, such as tablecloths and candlesticks, too. Being a founding member of the Glassette community, founded by Laura Jackson in 2021, you can find a variety of Harlie’s original paintings and other pieces online. Original paintings of Harlie’s are also found with West London based art collector, Domenica Marland.

Being a lover of the great outdoors, Harlie’s growing practice has focused a lot on producing abstract nature original artwork. Having recently moved back to Epping Forest, she spends a lot of her time in the fresh air, creating tablescapes and painting outside, watching the seasonal changes and just getting to grips with nature. Transforming what she sees outside into paintings brings a large amount of calmness and allows her to explore emotion, texture, colour and nature. Through her practice, Harlie hopes that people can mirror the calmness in nature to spark positive feelings and contentment.

Since 2016, painting and drawing the female form has been monumental in celebrating the supportive females around her. Her unique creative process involves women participating in her art by sharing their raw and powerful selves – their bodies. Creating fine art in the female form brings connection and warmth to her work; it is a safe space where body image, empowering women and celebrating the female form are at the centre of her practice.

Harlie has also delved into her interest in the fashion industry to create 100% organic cotton shirts and 100% silk scarves in the true nature of slow fashion. She hopes to further delve into this corner whilst keeping the environment and our world in mind. She has also recently been discovering the pottery world; the practice of ceramics is incredibly cathartic and an area that Harlie hopes to explore and expand on this year.

Harlie uses the vases and jugs that she collects at antique fairs to up-cycle to be powerful tablescape items with a story. She finds sourcing and working with pre-loved items a great way to practice a more sustainable life and reduce waste. Over the past few years Harlie has worked with many clothing and homeware brands, such as Free People, Kip Hideaways, Aligne, Burt’s Bees, M&S, to bring events and their creative visions to life.
